biography
Magdaléna Manderlová is a sound artist based in Oslo. She works with the relational and sensory practices of listening and field recording, grounded in a deep interest in ecology, the natural world and its processes. Her work, often site-specific and fieldwork-based, takes the form of interdisciplinary projects, sound installations, compositions, field recordings, concerts, participatory works and writings.
The recent projects, exhibitions and commissions include Atelier Nord, nyMusikk, Electric Audio Unit, Trondheim Electronic Arts Center, a row of trees, Only Connect festival, Sanatorium of Sound festival, Radio Art Zone, Lydgalleriet, Breton Cassette and Kunsthall 3.14 among others.
In collaboration with Michal Kindernay, she has organized the long-term project Kozmic Sounds, at Kozmické Meadows wetland in her home region in the Czech Republic since 2021. In 2025, she initiated the long-term project Fuglefotdelta at Nordre Øyeren nature reserve.
Magdaléna holds MA degrees from the University of Ostrava, Czech Republic, and Trondheim Academy of Fine Arts, Norway. She has a history as a singer-songwriter in the Czech DIY scene.
