Fuglefotdelta is a long-term artistic project and collaboration between four artists working across sound, visual and site-sensitive art, investigating Nordre Øyeren naturreservat.

Nordre Øyeren, located in Lillestrøm, Rælingen and Enebakk municipalities in Akershus county, is the largest inland delta of the Nordics — including the river mouths of the rivers Glomma, Leira and Nitelva. Nordre Øyeren is protected nationally and internationally for its ecological complexity and the importance for migratory birds, yet it faces recurring political pressures connected to water management and urban development in addition to the results of the local-global ecological crises.

Fuglefotdelta is a process-based project about developing one’s sense of presence in a place, which asks:

What emerges from long-term and shared attending to Nordre Øyeren?
Can listening become a form of ecological responsibility?

Fuglefotdelta is developed through recurring collective fieldwork at Nordre Øyeren fuglestasjons’ cabin at Årnestangen. The artist group return to the same site over the course of different seasons and years, and use the cabin both as a base and a working methodology in itself. A key outcome beyond the symposiums and exhibitions is the integration of the works and methods into the dissemination and education programme at Besøksenter våtmark Nordre Øyeren.
